Biomass Energy

Image
Biomass : This is an energy produced through the process of chemical reactions by organic waste, whether of plant or animal origin. The intention of the use of these gases is to replace or lessen the excessive use and dependence of fossil fuels. This thanks to the fact that biomass reduces the production of CO2 and depending on the waste, the decrease in environmental impact is to a greater or lesser extent. This Biomass is also used to produce biofuel, such as alcohol, methanol, oils, and other technologies, for this reason the biomass is responsable for more than 7.9% of the total production of renewable energies in the world. With respect to Guatemala the percentage total renewable production is about 31.73% and of that percentage, approximately more than 75% is to produce solid biofuels. All this data thanks to IRENA. Since 2010 the biomass production is not only stable but it has also increased, being mostly produced by the ICA who use: Sugarcane bagasse Agricultural wa...

Geothermal Energy Our planet Earth is, among other things, a very complex system in which every particle of mass matter and since the very beginning these particles have been part of the development of our Planet. If we would want to dig a hole in the ground, as we go dipper, we would notice two important characteristics of the Earth: the first one would be that the Planet is made out of layers of different type of materials and the other one would be that as we go dipper into the Earth’s layers, the temperature increases. This is because the inside of the Earth is full of heat. The Earth have managed a way to eject this heat out of the inside, the most common way is through volcanos and it is in this process that we, humas, can take advantage of the energy that our own planet has, and that we now call Geothermal Energy. We can use this energy in two different ways ·         Geothermal power plants They use heat from deep inside the Earth to generate s...

Eolic Energy

Wind energy in Guatemala Definition: Wind energy is a renewable energy source that is obtained from the kinetic energy of the wind that moves the blades of a wind turbine which in turn starts a turbine that converts it into electrical energy. The process begins when the wind turbine is positioned to take full advantage of the wind energy, using the data recorded by the wind vane and anemometer and rotating on its tower. Then, the wind turns the blades that are connected to a rotor that in turn is connected to a multiplier that raises the speed of rotation to thousands of revolutions per minute. This kinetic energy is transferred to the generator that converts it into electrical energy that is conducted through the interior of the tower to its base, then continues through the substation to raise its voltage and continues to the electrical network for subsequent distribution. Elements: A wind turbine or wind turbine is a machine that has various mechanical, electrical, electronic and str...

Solar Energy

Solar Energy Generalities The sun is the only star of our solar system located at its center. The earth and other planets orbit the sun. Ernergy from the sun in the form of solar radiation supports almost all life on earth via photosyntesis and drives the earth's climate and weather. Sunligth is the main source of energy to the surface of the earth that can be harnessed via variety of natural and synthetic process. The most important is photosynthesis, used by plants to capture the energy of solar radiation and convert it to chemical form. Basically, all the forms of energy in the world as we know it are solar in origin. Oil, coal, natural gas, and wood were originally produced by photysyntetic processes, followed by complex chemical reactions in eich decaying vegetation was subject to very high temperatures and pressures over a long period time. Even the energy of solar wind and tie has a solar origin, sonce they are caused by differences in termperature in various regions of eart...
